Chris Augustine - Trombonist

Chris Augustine

Trombone

Chris started playing the trombone at the age of fourteen under John Sibley (former second Trombonist of RPO) and is currently studying with a scholarship at Trinity College of Music. Whilst studying as an undergraduate at Goldsmiths’ College under Leslie Lake (former Bass Trombonist of ENO) he played Rimsky-Korsakov’s Concerto for Trombone with Goldsmiths Wind Band. Chris joined the Aveley & Newham Brass Band in September 2010. He also freelances with amateur orchestras and bands around London and is aspiring to have a seat in a professional orchestra in the future.

Ben Frost

Trombone

Ben started off his musical pursuits at an early age on the Piano after being inspired by his Dad's playing. He moved onto Trombone aged 10 and after giving it up for many years he picked it back up aged 14 and started learning properly with Mark Townend. He started a successful Funk/Jazz band called Frosty and the Snowmen and played mainly Jazz while in school but after moving to London realised that Orchestral and Brass Banding is where his passion lies. Outside Music Ben works for a successful Education Recruitment company.

Bob Cradock

Bass Trombone

Bob began playing the trombone while at school and progressed through the Gwent music system playing for the County Youth Orchestra and Band before progressing to the National Youth Brass Band of Wales.

After moving to Yorkshire to study at Leeds University, he joined the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band where he stayed for ten years. During this time he played at many of the top competitions including winning the Yorkshire Area in 1999 on "Blitz" by four clear points.

Following a career move to the Midlands, he joined the Thoresby Colliery band where he spent thirteen happy years, with many memorable concert and contest performances including three appearances at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.

Outside of band he is married to Sandy and has three children all currently at university. He currently works as a product development manager for a company making food ingredients.
